Art & Culture organises a food design competition for designers (from Drenthe) entitled VET!, voeding in de 21ste eeuw. With this, K & C wants to contribute to the discussion about food and the food sector. In addition, K & C raises public awareness of sustainable design.

Inspiration day
The project starts on 9 February 2019 with an inspiration day. During a food safari, locations are visited that are associated with food or the history of food in Frederiksoord, Veenhuizen and Borger. Speakers from the creative and agri-food sector challenge the participants to make designs in the form of products or prototypes.

Made by mealworms
Studio MARC inspires the public on this day with the project ‘Made by mealworms’, a sequel to the installation made for Groningen ontwerpt. Marc Paulusma researches the processing of Styrofoam and shows a speculative scenario in which the mealworms are part of a waste stream that we can eat ourselves.

During a workshop, he tells more about the project and its possible applications. In addition, participants get the chance to build a house of Styrofoam for a mini-mealworm colony.
